Parents / player Code of Conduct and Zero Tolerance Policy

WYBSA is committed to a positive and safe environment for all participants and spectators.  Parents, coaches, visitors and volunteers are all role models for our youth.  Our athletes need guidance to positive sportsmanship. WYBSA is committed to providing these young athletes with a positive sportsmanship environment.  As parents, coaches and volunteers, it is our responsibility to report to the WYBSA board any failure in following the below code of conduct.  WYBSA will respond quickly to any allegations of violating the Code of Conduct.  WYBSA strongly encourages parents to become as active as possible in sponsored activities such as games, practices and other events.  The more the parents are involved, the less likely it is for abusive situations to develop.

WYBSA HAS ESTABLISHED THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES OF BEHAVIOR.  ALL PARTICIPANTS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND GUESTS ARE EXPECTED TO OBSERVE AND ADHERE TO THESE GUIDELINES.

1. Respect umpires and board members and their authority during games.
2. No abuse of any kind will be tolerated (sexual, emotional, physical or verbal).
3. Children will not be forced to participate in sports.
4. Behaviors or practices that endanger the health and safety of the athletes will not be tolerated.
5. I will teach my child(ren) to play by the rules and resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
6. No inappropriate remarks of any kind (racial, sexual or age) towards athletes, coaches, sports officials, board members or volunteers are permitted.
7. I will not ridicule any participant (athlete, coach or sports official) for a mistake made or for the loss of a game.
8. I will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any umpires, coaches, players, parents, board members or volunteers (booing and taunting, refusing to shake hands, use of profane language, or obscene gestures are all examples of unsportsmanlike conduct).
9. I will be a positive role model for my child(ren) by showing respect and courtesy to coaches, board members, umpires or other volunteers at every game, practice and all other WYBSA sponsored events.
10. I will support the coach in every way possible during practices and games.
11. I will demand sport environments safe for all children that are free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from the use of them at all sporting events.

Failure to adhere to the above guidelines will result in the following actions

1. WYBSA board member on duty will address the issue with the violator.  If the action is deemed serious, the violator will be asked to leave the park immediately.
2. Second violation will also result in the violator being asked to leave the park.
3. Third offenses (or offenses deemed very serious) will lead to a meeting of the WYBSA board and further actions will be decided by the board.  Such actions can include violator being banned from future practices and games or children being removed from the WYBSA program.
